I think it would be a good thing to have another state, especially if it alleviates the burden on the Governor of California!  Too big becomes too many problems that are tougher to rectify.  Good luck in getting STATEHOOD!!

Being 5th generation Oregonian, I am sickened and appalled where we have ended up.  This disgusting tax and spend, held hostage by unions, tax rural counties to underwrite rapid transmit in Portland, and on and on has ruined our state.  For years the liberal populated areas of the Willamette Valley have made decisions that destroy rural counties, ie:  Can't hunt predators with dogs, wolves are OK to import, don't cut any trees, and it will only get worse.
Unfortunately, the US Constitution Art. 4 Section 3 is a problem.  If we begin to collect signatures to go to the Oregon Legislature and ask for permission to succeed and form a new State of Jefferson, we should also give them an alternative of an electoral college voting in Oregon.  Therefore, each county by popular vote would have one vote.  If there is a tie, then a lottery would pick one state to have another vote to make the decision.  Secondly, no taxes or fees could be raised without a vote of the people.

Perhaps if we formed our own State of Jefferson, my grandchildren could experience a Christmas Party in December, instead of some leftist, progressive, wacko Winter Program or Winter Solstice Celebration. 

May God have mercy on us if we don't do something.

Well, I have looked at this for a while and i believe that we must gain the support of all the towns, large and small, to secede from the oppressive taxation and ridiculous laws made from those who have not been on a road smaller than 4 lanes besides neighborhood streets.
