Jefferson is one letter shorter than California, therefore saves ink.  It is three syllables, rather than five.  It salutes a great American, rather than an imaginary dream, which has turned into a nightmare.  I just returned from a necessary trip to the land of fruits & nuts.  Thank God that I don't have to go down ever again as far as I know.
I love the site, and have sent the URL to everyone I know of reasonable intelligence.

I have not been happy with CA or DC for quite some time. In August '98 I bought a couple acres outside of K Falls, OR.

Have been looking for something to do for a few years now. I'd be willing to write any documents needed, from declaration of secession to a state constitution, just let me know what should be said.

My parents were born in rural areas, as was myself. My children were born at home. Most of my life we have all lived in small towns. Basically, I have raised my children with a "Jefferson" state of mind. My oldest is 19,down to 10 years young. We visited Trinidad, CA and all fell in love with the people, the raw unspoiled splendor of the area we visit bi-yearly now. My girlfriend lives in Gold Beach, OR. I would love to move the 150 miles to continue living in God's Country where "we the people" still means something.

If ideas can become movements and movements become "The State of Jefferson", then there is much work for all of us to do.  I'll do my part.  Look for my article in the Free Azalea News (Brookings, OR).  Any Political Science, Economics or Sociology students want to work with a Georgetown grad (National Security Studies) to do some serious discussion, thought, writing and research to raise public attention to the "State of Jefferson" movement?

Central Point, Jefferson  U.S.A.

After living through today's actions of the Multnomah County commissioner's to issue same sex marriage licenses, I have decided it is time to do what is right. For me to have someone in Portland tell me that they have decided that persons have the right to force me to accept them is violating my rights. I urge all Citizens of Jefferson to contact me asap so that we can organize and set our dream into motion. I have been a lifelong resident of Southern Oregon and my family has resided here for well over one hundered years. I do not believe that we can be taken serious unless we do this in a proper manner under the laws of the U.S. constitution. We will need the support of citizens from all walks of life. I urge you all to start talking to every person you know, to spread the idea, and to gain the knowledge and experience of those that will aid us in our endeavor. This will not be an easy goal... We have the "Terminator" to our South and Governor "Tax & Gouge Me " to the North. But this can be accomplished. If you would like to be a part of history, E-mail me asap. Let's move fast, with common sense, and knowledge. We are all Americans who have been wronged by state government and are tired of business as usual. To let this continue will be our own fault. To let this continue is wrong for our families. To let this continue without trying to change is something I am not willing to do. Are you ? One person can not make this change. As we recently saw here in Oregon, the state tried to force a tax measure down our throats. The citizens stood up and were heard. As Governor Davis tried to push the citizens of California around, he found out what power is and who really yields it when they are organized. This is the absolute key to making this happen. We have to be organized. I am willing are you ?

To begin the cause, the right of self-determination must be paramount.  Self-determination is attained by following a course of order codified in the US and State Constitutions. Those seeking to realize the goal must have the mechanics of this transition as their bible. The group should define it's goal strictly.  To become a 51st State is a noble cause.  To become a proud new star on the flag, the State must uphold the highest forms of lawful endeavor.
Proud citizens who are very well educated in the steps lying ahead will foster a stronger State. A logical first step is to define the boundary.  Second shall be nurturing public opinion to the positive/negative impacts that the future State of Jefferson holds for it's citizens. Third will be fair and open discussion.  Open discussion includes distributing thoughtful letters, transcripts of debates and public meetings, and access to mass media.  A message must be delivered to all parties who hold the decision making power. Who will refine the remaining thoughts into a movement? The corps is willing to be led. I have a strong interest in this movement as a rural citizen of Multnomah County. My wish has been to form a new county from Portland City limits west to Scappoose and south to Washington County.  I believed I was the only one who thought in terms of secession.
I will be back to see your progress!

California is run by its southern counties, the rural northern section of the population has NO voice whatsoever. Legislation is passed to aid the economic status of the south, with no regard to the agricultural element of the northern counties. People from L.A. will never understand that food in the store comes from a farm.
