Shasta and just 16 miles south of the Oregon border.

was founded in 1851 by members of a mule train party who were
passing through the area on their way to the Scott Valley gold
fields from southern Oregon. Gold
was first discovered in Yreka Flats by Abraham Thompson and his
historic Miner Street, lined with buildings dating to the
Third Street, lined with Victorian-era homes.
